A Time for Thanks and Giving
As we approach the holidays I see signs and advertisements talking about food drives. It feels like everyone is having a food drive of one manner or another. These are all great causes, but where does all this food go?
In Puyallup a large portion of the food that is gathered at food drives is sent to the Puyallup Food Bank. The Puyallup Food bank is a distribution point for individuals but they also distribute large portions of food to other distribution centers in the area. The Puyallup Food Bank provides food for over 10,000 families and individuals in the area. That is an awesome task!
While they collect the normal food stuffs: peanut butter, canned meat, canned soup, canned fruit and vegetable and macaroni and cheese; they also collect personal hygiene items like: toilet paper, tooth paste, tooth brushes, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent and dishwashing soap.
If you are looking for a food bank to support this year I suggest the Puyallup Food Bank. You can visit their website: www.puyallupfoodbank.org and find the times and places you can drop off donations. You can also donate online and you can see the amazing amount of food that a $10 donation can provide. $10 will provide 12 meals for a family of 4!
Let’s all enjoy the season of Thanks and Giving and help other people to enjoy the holidays as well!
